after the cannizzaro reaction for benzaldehyde we wanted to extract remained benzaldehyde in etheric phase so we added sodiumhyposulfite . when the benzaldehyde was extracted we added NaHCO3 . anyone knows what’s the reaction between NaHSO3 & NaHCO3 ??!
you mean sodium bisulfite.
Aldehyde would react with sodium bisulfite to create and adduct. And if you add NaHCO3 the adduct would return to the aldehyde form.
